Rickwood Field: A Fitting Tribute
Bet Recap, RIP Willie Mays, and... do we have ourselves a series?!
The Rickwood Field Game Was Spectacular
The St. Louis Cardinals Beat the San Francisco Giants 6-5 in the Negro League tribute game at historic Rickwood field on Thursday night. The game was memorable with Brendan Donovan collecting a two-run homer and a double. The comfortably centennial ball-park was the site of this fitting tribute to the Negro League and the recently departed legend Willie Mays. Mays called Rickwood home as a member of the Black Barons. There were plenty of tributes to Mays and other Negro League players such as former Black Barons player Bill Greason who threw out the first pitch. I’m glad to see we are finally getting more recognition of the contributions to baseball from these incredible players.
Bet Recap
Dubs gave us a few bets last week (as did I), so let’s take a look at how we made out:
Jaylen Brown Over 4.5 Assists Hit (he had six) ✅
Al Horford Under 9.5 points Hit (he had nine) ✅
Derrick White Under 3.5 3s Missed (he hit four) ❌
So Dubs goes a very respectable three out four!
As for my betting slip, I gave you the following:
NHL Goals over 5.5 (hit with a huge Saturday) ✅
Draistaitl over 2.5 shots Hit (he had 3) ✅
Panthers ML (Missed) ❌
Conn Smythe for Bobrovsky: TBD but feels like its McDavid’s award to lose at this point.
so that’s two out of three for me! Solid performance from The Ocho Boys.
Here’s what I’ve got for you tonight:
Weekend Wagers!
We have a TON of soccer on the go so lets make some wagers.
First, in the Copa America , I’m taking:
Ecuador over Venezuela
Mexico over Jamaica
For the Euros:
Germany over Switzerland
Belguim over Romania
Portugal over Turkey
To finish off, here is an NHL parlay:
Bouchard: To score a point
McDavid: Two or more shots on goal
Verhaeghe: Two or more shots on goal
Bouchard: Two or more shots on goal
and on a separate ticket: I’ll take the Oilers ML because its going 7 BAYBAY!
We got ourselves a series

The Edmonton Oilers have woken up and finally given us a series in the Stanley Cup Finals. After an absolutely dominant performance in game four, winning 8-1, the Oilers took care of business in Florida. Now, they’re bringing the series back to Edmonton for another potential close out game for the Panthers. For Florida, they need to get back to the forecheck and use the body like they did in the first three games of this series and for Edmonton to force game 7, they need to continue to use their speed. Lastly I just want to take a moment reflect in awe at what Connor McDavid is doing in this series. Currently, he sits at 42 points, he’s broken the playoff assist record, and he’s been an excellent two-way player on both offensive and defensive. At this point, it would be hard to argue against him being the next Conn Smythe winner, regardless of the series outcome. I hope you’ve been enjoying the Stanley Cup Final, I know I have. I will be sad to see it end.
