DFS Wins, USA Shocks Pakistan & Weekend Wagers

USA Shocks Pakistan!
The Ocho Sports Weekly Moment

In the Spirit of all things The Ocho, this Friday I wanted to bring you a story that maybe hasn’t made it to your front page yet. The USA defeated former champion Pakistan in the ICC Men’s T20 Cricket World Cup. Now before you say something like “AC, what on earth is T20?!”, let me explain. The T20 international is a cricket tournament featuring members of the International Cricket Council and is generally played every two years. The rules are lengthy and maybe we will do a deep-dive video on this, but the most important thing to glean from this result is that the USA cricket team was able to absolutely beat Goliath as David. Pakistan are perennial favorites in most forms of cricket (there are so many styles of games of cricket, it's shocking). If you’re interested in checking some out, Canada plays Ireland today and Sri Lanka plays Bangladesh with the night-cap of New Zealand versus Afghanistan. Good luck to all those playing! Who knows what our The Ocho sport moment of the week will be next Friday.

DFS Recap

I gave out a few DFS lines yesterday for Major league Baseball and both cashed for me so wanted to recap how we did and where we may have missed. Tanner Houck dominated last night, netting us 31.35 total fantasy points which really helped bolster that line-up. Aided by Mookie Betts at 27 and Valdez, Carroll, and Wong at 20 points. The only dud in the line-up was Ian Happ who put up a big ole’ goose egg. I entered a single entry contest and finished 48th out of 1426 entries. The other line up also performed in a mega mini-max contest ($3 USD) and we doubled up there as well! Sonny Gray and Hunter Green both pitched well enough but with around 33 points between them both, Tanner Houck was the clear winner of the day. No-one in that line had a goose egg so the more consistent approach paid off. Out of 11890 entries that line finished 2013th overall. Total wagers yesterday on MLB DFS was $9 USD total take home was $28 (The better line would’ve finished 314th in the mini mega max contest). Hopefully you cashed out like I did, and please let me know if you want more DFS in the coming days.

Weekend Wagers

It’s the weekend which means it’s time for Weekend Wagers! We have both the Stanley Cup Finals and the NBA Finals on the go as well as some F1, so let’s take a look at some potential bets for some weekend fun! The Stanley Cup Finals start Saturday with Edmonton at +115 and Florida as the Favorite at -135. Although I like Edmonton to finish off the “Canadian Curse” and win the Cup, I think game one is going to be a battle. The goals total is set at 5.5 and I’m not sure I don’t see game one being a bit more of a shootout. Lots of time off for the goalies and player rust will be there so I’m leaning here:

Florida -135

Over 5.5 goals

NBA finals Game two goes Sunday and after a dominant performance we have a line of Celtics -7 and the over/under set at 214.5. I think we see more from Dallas in this game but Celtics are such a good team I’m leaning on a closer game with a lot of scoring.

Dallas +7

Over 214.5

Finally, we have an F1 race this weekend as the drivers take their talents to what figures to be a wet and soggy Montreal circuit. Given the upgrades brought by most teams I’m inclined to lean into Lando or Charles winning the race but my gut tells me Max gets back on track (pun fully intended) and holds on to win in Montreal. The Drivers are set at the following:

Max -225 to win - 600 podium

Charles +450 to win -300 podium

Lando +550 to win - 200 Podium

Oscar +1400 to win +137 podium

Carlos +2500 to win +225 to podium

Plenty of options here- I’m going with Max to win with Double McLaren on the podium (Lando and Oscar)
