On May 8th Maggie Steffans wrote an Instagram post about supporting the US women’s water polo team in part reading “I encourage everyone to give these women a try! 🤽🏼‍♀️😜💥 To join our family & friends and watch them strive to defy odds & chase history. To see what committed training day in and day out for over a year can create! To see what women can do in the water 🔥” and I’m sure not in her wildest dreams did she imagine that the person who would step up and champion the cause would be none other then Flava Flav! The hip hop mogul and clock wearing enthusiast himself, of course. Flav jumped in saying he would champion this team and honestly…it might be my most favorite Olympic story yet. Flav now has a water polo clock he proudly wears and has even joined commentary teams. It just goes to show that if you shoot your shot you never know who might be watching.

Breaking News: Refs Continue To Suck

England advanced to the Finals of the Euro on Wednesday but the game was marred by poor officiating. In fact, the entire Euro 2024 has been subjected to some less then stellar officiating. No matter the sport, no matter the country, no matter the occasion; Refs will ALWAYS suck. I feel for the Dutch fans as they absolutely were not given a fair, full opportunity in this game. However, full marks to England who took advantage of a late substitution to score in the 90th minute to take a 2-1 victory and earn them a birth in the Euro finals to face Spain.

Double Duty

A double dose of The Ocho for you today! An Iowa House Representative came to the aid of the Sioux City Explorers. The Explorers were in desperate need of pitching and were scouring to find an arm when, lo and behold, in steps Iowa House Representative J.D Scholten; A former Independent League pitcher who stayed in shape by throwing and playing when the House was not in session. Schloten couldn’t believe the ask when the manager implored Scholten but was up to the task, nonetheless. The Explorers won 11-2 and if this isn’t one of the most The Ocho things I’ve seen in a bit I don’t know what is!

Weekend Wagers!

Last week, while on vacation, I gave you Lando to win Silverstone and though weather played a role in the result I cant say I wasn’t happy to see Lewis on the Podium again.
