At Least We've Got The Memories

It Was Never Going To Be Good

Here we are half-way through the year and to quote the great Denny Green “they are who we thought they were!” after yet another horrible outing, the Patriots under 3.5 wins is still alive. I never thought this team was going anywhere and obviously still believe that. However, I think we need to have a serious talk about head coach Jerod Mayo. Mayo was brought in post Bill Belichick to give some new life and a relatively new voice in a world where one voice had ruled the roost for twenty years. We started off the year with some hope for the future but after a few bad losses and some horrendous press conferences, I’m beginning to question if the team is really moving in the right direction. My own thoughts on this season were: let the kids sit and learn, eventually getting into the game, and the true test of Mayo will be NEXT season when Drake Maye and the offense have had a full year to learn and grow together. After last week’s loss when Mayo called the team “soft” (ouch) I’m not sure that he’s the right voice. Maybe this is because we’ve had “we’re on to Cincinnati” for so long that a different sound coming from a press conference is odd but it feels like he has had absolutely no media training and just gives up everything at first question.

We truly won’t know how everything shakes out until the draft (if Mayo survives that long) if the team addresses it’s major needs first instead of reaching on a kicked from a high school in Uzbekistan in the 2nd round. For now all we have is hope…. And wagering.

Veteran Resurgence

Across the NFL we have seen a ton of veteran players getting a lot of love. Recently Russ put on a show against the Jets, Sammy D MVP has been playing well (save a missed face mask but we wont get into that here), Andy Dalton almost saved the Panthers for a week, and Joe Flacco was once again a thing. Baker, Stafford, Goff and now Winston are all finding ways to make an impact despite being told “your not that guy”.

While Darnold, and to a lesser extent Mayfield, have been consistent this season, it’s Wilson who is offering some the strange feeling of optimism. Wilson to Wilson with the moonballs was reminiscent of the Russell of old and with the Steelers somehow in the mix for a playoff spot its got a lot of people asking “Can Russ still cook?”. Time will tell but until then show some fantasy football love to a veteran and go make a waiver claim on one of those 35 year old QBs

WEEKEND WAGERS!

Last week F1 went a little side-ways but we still hit on most of our wagers. Let’s stick to football this week and some any time TD picks!

Let’s get the easy ones out of the way first:
